FRESHMAN BOYS OPEN CHSAA SCHEDULE WITH A 59-55 WIN OVER IONA PREP

NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Boys Freshman Basketball team won its third game on Friday night, defeating Iona Prep to open an exciting triple-header against the Gaels. Kemar Martin led the way with 17 points for the Crusaders.
The Crusaders ended the first quarter leading the Gaels 11-9. After shaking off some of their nerves, the Crusaders scored 21 points in the second quarter extending their lead to 32-26 going into the half.
The Gaels continued to find ways to stay in the game and outscored the Crusaders 10-8 in the third quarter to stay within striking distance. The quarter closed out with the Crusaders leading by 4, 40-36.

Strong fourth quarters by Myles Dickerson (16 pts) and Kaleb Popotte (12 pts) helped seal the win, 59-55, keeping the Crusaders undefeated at 3-0. "I am really proud of the way we came out and played tonight,” Head Coach BJ Cole, said. "We played well as a team today. Everyone up and down the team contributed in some way to this win and that is something that you love to see as a coach.”
The Crusaders take on St. Peters in Staten Island as part of another triple header on Sunday, December 5th. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
