FRIDAY NIGHT RIVALRY GAME: RAVENS BEAT CRUSADERS, 83-68

BRONX, NY – Friday afternoon was the first of two meetings between St. Raymond and Scanlan this season. The visiting Crusaders jumped out to an early 20-13 lead at the end of the first quarter. Leading the attack was junior's Jabari Phillip and Kenny Fields, who scored 6 points each. The Ravens exploded in the 2nd quarter outscoring the Crusaders 26-14. The Ravens were lead by senior Isaiah Philbert, who scored 12 of his 15 points while connecting on three 3pt baskets. The Ravens went into the half leading the Crusaders, 39-34.


The Crusaders could not catch up the Ravens in the 2nd half as Ravens freshman Brandon Stores (game high 24 points) lead the charge alongside teammate, freshman Tai Turnage (13 points). Scanlan Head Coach Dwayne Mitchell stated, "It's early in the season, but I can't wait to get back to practice tomorrow. We will rebound from this game. We have some things to work on and I am looking forward to working with the coaches on improving as a team." Richard Smith (Sr.) and Nasir Rodriguez (So.) both finished with 12 points each for the Crusaders who are now 2-1 on the season.


The Crusaders have a long layoff before taking on Holy Cross High School in a double headers at home on Tuesday December, 21st. This will be the home opener for the Crusaders.
