SCANLAN TRACK DOMINATES IN STATEN ISLAND RELAYS



STATEN ISLAND, NY – God is Doing Great Things at Monsignor Scanlan High School! On Saturday, December 4th 2021, Monsignor Scanlan High School’s track team competed in our first indoor meet for the 2021 season. The 6th Annual S.I.H.S.T & F.A. Relays (Staten Island Relay) at the Ocean Breeze Recreational Facility in Staten Island.

There were many relay races for all grades (freshman, sophomore, junior & seniors). Plus, they had individual races, 400 and 3200-meter races. Medals were awarded to the top 5 winners.

The Crusaders’ Freshman Girls continues a positive note after their awesome cross-country season. Dakota Hickman, Candice Palmer, Saniah Caldwell and Talia Dixon competed in the Freshman 4x200 meters relays. The meet record was 2:01.3 minutes, set on 12/03/2016. The Crusaders won the race with a time of 1:53.39 minutes, breaking a 5-year-old meet record! Plus, Talia Dixon, Kimaris Hickman, Rakae Thomas & Saniah Caldwell (all freshman girls) competed in the Frosh / Sophomore Sprint Medley Relay (400, 200, 200, 800 meters) and won the gold medal. Then, Rakea took 1st place, Candice 2nd place, Kimaris 3rd place, and Dakota 5th place in the Junior Varsity girls 400 meters race. All medaled!

The Crusaders’s Boys also looked good! Ranaldo Fong, Ferdiand Guevaoa, Tristan Vega and Klye Matthews competed in the Boys Sprint Medley Relay (400, 200, 200, 800 meters). They just miss earning medals with a 6th place finish. But Dontae Lindo took 1st place and Kyle Matthews 3rd place in the Junior Varsity 400 meters, earning medals.

Our next meet is on Saturday, December 11th the 70th Annual CHSAA Intersectional Relay Carnival at the Armory in Fort Washington NY.
