God is Doing Great Things at Monsignor Scanlan High School! On Saturday, October 30th, 2021, Monsignor Scanlan High School’s track team competed in the NYCHSAA/BQCHSAA Sectionals Championships at the legendary Van Cortlandt Park for the title “Best in the City”!!! The following races were contested: 2.5 miles run for the varsity and 2500 meters for freshman athletes. Medals were awarded to the top 25. Plaques were awarded to all winning teams!

The Crusaders’ Freshman Girls continues to shine! We had five girls in the top 14 athletes out of 87 girls. Winning the Freshman Girls NYCHSAA and City Championship was an Awesome task!! The following freshman girls earned medals and team championship: Talia Dixon lead the girls with a 4th place finish. Saniah Caldwell finish in 6th place, earning her a medal and breaking her PR (personal record) by 12 seconds. Candice Palmer took 7th place, earning her a medal and PR by 21 seconds. Rakae Thomas took 8th place, earning her a medal and PR by 20 seconds. Diamond Fields, who is known for playing basketball, showed that she can run too. She ran in her first 2500 meters cross country race and finish in 14th place to seal the team Championship. Follow by Dakota Hickman, who broke her personal record.

The Boys looked good too! Sophomore Student Kyle Matthews, who led the Crusaders with a time of 16:44 in the 2.5-mile run, breaking his personal record by 14 seconds, followed by Zion Barnabas, Alan Perera, and Ethan Lithgrow. Freshman Ferdinand Guevara ran a respectful time in his 2nd 2500-mile run. Great job Crusaders!
